British Security Industry Association: publishes external detection guide. The British Security Industry Association (BSIA) has published a guide to the use of external detection in BS8418 CCTV systems.

The guide is intended to assist those involved in determining operational requirements for BS8418 detector activated CCTV systems in how to select, install and commission the external detection equipment associated with such systems in the interests of limiting unwanted activations.

“Detectors are at the very frontline of CCTV detection, but the BSIA identified that there was little guidance available on their selection and use,” says Pauline Norstrom, BSIA CCTV Section Chairman.

“This new guide is intended to provide additional support and information to aid installers and Remote Video Response Centres (RVRC) in accordance with British Standard BS8418 which requires detector activated CCTV systems be installed to best practice.”
