L-3 Security & Detection Systems announced today that its eXaminer 3DX-ES enhanced speed inline explosives detection system (EDS) has received certification from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).

The eXaminer 3DX-ES leverages the same footprint and proven operational performance as L-3's eXaminer 3DX, offering a cost-effective approach to higher speed EDS requirements for checked baggage. "The eXaminer 3DX-ES brings the accuracy and dependability of our field-proven eXaminer 3DX to a new, higher throughput inline EDS that is the fastest medium-speed class system," said Thomas M. Ripp, president of L-3 Security & Detection Systems. "With TSA certification of the 3DX-ES, L-3 can now offer airports a comprehensive selection of four certified eXaminer models (SX, 3DX, 3DX-ES, XLB) in the reduced size, medium-speed and high-speed performance categories."
The eXaminer family is powered by 3-D Continuous Flow Computed Tomography that rapidly and accurately screens hold baggage for explosives and other threats, generating full 3-D images of entire objects in seconds. Certified by regulators throughout the world, the eXaminer family delivers reliable threat detection and exceptional throughput performance.
