Detectomat: Sounder-Flasher, Addressable Alarm Device CONUS II – GSA25 Finalist

In most cases there is no need for fire resistant cabling and fire proof housings, which are normally required in Germany. The alarm device is certified for wall and ceiling installation and is available with white and red flash. There are different brightness and volume levels available with up to 95 dB(A). With an integrated detector base additional cabling for detectors could be reduced.

With the integrated battery, up to 126 CONUS II Sounder-Flasher addressable alarm devices could be installed on one loop. Normally the number of alarm devices is much lower, as in most cases the power supply of the Fire Alarm Panel is used. An intelligent battery management informs early about the need of new batteries. At a second step an error occurs, but at this stage the CONUS II is still able to activate the alarm 2 times for 30 minutes. This ensures high reliability about the required alarm duration. Especially for Germany this allows often to ignore the use of fire resistant cabling and fire proof housings. This allows more flexibility during design, installation and extension  as there are no limitations regarding cable length, volume and brightness levels. 

The huge amount of alarm devices per loop also allows more flexibility without adding loops or Fire Alarm Panels which could reduce material cost up to 30% pending on the project type. As the product is certified for wall and ceiling mounting, there are additional advantages for designers and installers, as lots of addressable optical alarm devices are only certified for wall mounting. The white flash is certified for wall mounting with W-2,4-6 and ceiling mounting with C-3-10 according to EN54-23. The red flash is certified for wall mounting with W-2,4-3 and for ceiling mounting with C-3-6.
