Electronic Access Solution for Water Utility

Photo

Dala Vatten och Avfall distributes clean water to four municipalities in the central Swedish region of Dalarna and now uses Assa Abloy’s wireless access system. The company’s 20-year-old mechanical locking system for perimeter security needed to be upgraded at multiple, dispersed sites against the potential threats of sabotage or terrorism. They chose Cliq Remote, a key-based access control solution based on encrypted electronics incorporated into programmable high-security mechanical cylinders and keys. The remote functionality is designed for companies with dispersed sites and/or key-holders and allows access rights to be updated centrally, without requiring the workforce to return to base. The Company no longer has to worry about keys that are never returned by employees or contractors and the web-based administration software delivers a comprehensive audit trail for every lock on demand. Each locking cylinder is supplied with power by a standard battery inside every Cliq key. There’s no wiring, making the system a fast retrofit solution for doors and padlocks at remote sites where mains electricity is difficult or impossible to connect.
