Explosion isolation systems for dust explosion hazardous containers and devices

Photo

Explosion isolation systems of IEP Technologies are implemented where dust explosion hazardous containers and devices are connected by pipelines or conveying systems. Because of the hazard of an explosion transmission it is necessary to isolate potentially explosive plant components among each other and towards unprotected areas. Whether the decoupling is accomplished by shut-down slidegate valves, quick acting valves, extinguishing agent barriers or non-return valves depends on the respective category of use.

Fast acting slide valves are preferably used for plants which are designed for a maximum explosion pressure. The pipelines between the single plant components are closed in the range of milliseconds and explosion pressure waves as well as the flame front are stopped in front of the sliding blade.

Ventex valves are not only implemented in plants which are designed for maximum explosion pressure, but also where reduced explosion pressure may cause damages in enclosed plant components. The explosion protection valve closes the pipeline between the single plant components within milliseconds. Thus the explosion pressure wave and the flame front on one or both sides of the valve can be stopped.

With the help of extinguishing agent barriers, an explosion flame which moves through a pipeline or a duct can be extinguished by injecting fire extinguishing powder. This system is mainly used in combination with explosion suppression plants or explosion pressure venting systems.

The innovative non-return valve of IEP Technologies Inc. is used where explosive dust-air mixtures occur. In case of an explosion, the hinged leaf is closed by the spreading pressure front and neither the explosion flame nor the explosion pressure can flash back into the pipeline.
