SSP: Simplifier Gateway Profisafe – GSA25 Finalist
In its own words, SSP combined “the best of two worlds”: Wireless safety communication and PROFIsafe. The Simplifier system is a versatile solution for various safety applications.
With wireless communication and the integration of the PROFIsafe bus, it enables the protection of doors, drawers, lift gates and more. Flexible and customizable. All Simplifier devices exchange information with each other wirelessly in the mesh network. The information is transmitted from the Simplifier devices to the Simplifier Gateway, which then communicates with the Siemens control system via PROFIsafe.
Increasingly, customers want to program centrally via a Siemens controller, where up to now sub-networks have been wired with IO boxes, which only have M12 4/5-pin connections. This results in high planning and wiring costs with expensive PROFInet components and offers poor status diagnostics of the safety sensors. With this development, a decentralized system can be set up that communicates centrally with all transmission signals in order to act as a master controller between various sensor systems. This results in less planning and wiring work, faster commissioning and greater diagnostic capability thanks to fully-fledged M12 8-pin connections, which enables an increased variety of data for evaluations on the control system.
