From 5-8 November 2019, OSH experts and practitioners from industry, the trades, administration, politics and the sciences will meet at the 36th International Congress for Occupational Safety and Health – the leading congress event for safety and health at work. Running in conjunction with the A+A Congress is the A+A Trade Fair 2019, where visitors are invited to attend events on the latest OSH topics such as Work 4.0 and the future of work in Europe and worldwide. Events will be translated simultaneously into English. Around 350 OSH policy experts, researchers and practitioners will talk about social developments, reforms, technical and organisational innovations, as well as the latest scientific findings.
The Federal Association for Occupational Safety and Health (Basi) is the organiser of the event and expects that approximately 5,500 visitors will attend around 50 series of events at the 36th International Congress for Occupational Safety and Health, which is being held at the CCD Congress Center Düsseldorf Süd from 5 to 8 November 2019. The conference programme can be downloaded as a PDF from www.basi.de/aa-congress/ or a print version can be ordered by sending an email to info@basi.de. Tickets for the congress start at €155 for a 1-day ticket and be purchased at www.aplusa-online.com.
The Congress will be opened on 5 November 2019 at 9.30 a.m. in the Congress Center Düsseldorf, CCD Süd, by Basi Chairs Saskia Osing and Sonja König. Day One of the congress will focus on the future of work. Trend researcher Franz Kühmayer will give a keynote speech on ‘Why we have to completely rethink work’. The main specialist event ‘Future of Work’ (5 November, 10:00-12.30), held under the auspices of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMAS), will focus on safety and health in the digitalised world of work. On 5 November from 14:00 to 17:00, the Joint German Occupational Health and Safety Strategy (GDA) will be discussed as an approach to occupational safety and health in Germany for dealing with the consequences of digitalisation under the title ‘Prevention 4.0 - The Joint German Occupational Safety and Health Strategy’. In the afternoon, a separate event will be held to present the German Occupational Safety and Health Award. The Award recognises outstanding examples of technical, strategic, organisational and cultural solutions for workplace safety and health.
The Vision Zero Business Council’s ‘Vision Zero and Globalization’ forum will be held in English on 5 November between 14:00 and 17:00. Vision Zero is an initiative of the International Social Security Association (ISSA). At the forum, representatives from the Global Vision Zero Business Council will share their experiences and illustrate how ‘Vision Zero’ can help create a global culture of prevention. Leading consultants will speak about their experiences from international practice. The audience is invited to actively participate in the discussion. The Vision Zero campaign, launched in September 2017 at the World Congress on Safety and Health at Work in Singapore, will also be discussed on the following days: 6 November 2019, 17:00-18:00: ‘Vision Zero – Innovation in Prevention – Opening’; 7 November, 9:00-12.30, ‘Vision Zero – Innovation in Prevention – Partner Initiatives’.
On 6 November from 9:30-16:00, the topic is ‘Good Work Worldwide – Fairness in Global Supply Chains’ – organised by the Institute for Work and Health (IAG) of the German Social Accident Insurance. The event is aimed at experts in the field of sustainability; OSH experts, in particular those who are active internationally; business owners and employers; company interest groups; and workplace inspectors. It will provide a unique opportunity to share experiences and jointly discuss how to address the challenges for occupational safety and health arising from global supply chains.
