Security 2008: showcasing the global market for security and fire protection. The market for electronic security systems in Germany has exhibited a continuous upward development in recent years. With regard to security management, citizens and companies are increasingly placing their faith in technical support. According to the ZVEI (the “Central Association for Electrotechnology and the Electronics Industry”) the total market volume for 2006 in Germany was €2,311 million. Not only reflecting this big market but also showcasing the global market, Security 2008 in Essen will present itself as the driving force behind and the hub of the security and fire protection sectors.
From 7 to 10 October, the fair will be the meeting place of the security experts from all over the world. Over 1,100 exhibitors from around 50 nations are expected to come to Messe Essen. They will offer a multifaceted programme in all the areas of prevention for crime and fire fighting, security. Fire protection which will now be presented in a concentrated and more diverse form will become an even greater focus of attention. Around 40,000 security experts from about 80 nations are expected at Messe Essen for Security 2008.
Comprehensive Range of Security Technology and Concepts on Offer
The products displayed by the exhibitors will include control and surveillance equipment, fire alarm equipment, close-combat protection, crime detection technology, possibilities of installation-technology and constructional fire protection as well as service and protective clothing. In addition to the refined security concepts, Security will also focus on important subjects for the utilisation of security technology in the commercial sector.
These will include the field of “Security over IP”, the integration of the classical security technology into in-house computer networks or the diverse applications of the RFID technology, from product to person identification with regard to the security of goods and inventory and to admission control. Biometric methods are also being used to an increasing extent, not only for passports and visas. Moreover, the fair will offer an extensive range of technically sophisticated products in danger alarm technology as well as in mechatronic security, particularly in locking technology.
Specialist Conference for Security Experts
The security congress at Security will present itself in a new format. In order to give the participants more opportunity to visit the fair, compact half-day events will take place with the motto “Security in Dialogue”. The presenations will provide information about topical security subjects and will actively involve the participants. Short fundamental and stimuli lectures will form the basis for podium discussions. The participants will be able to enter into a dialogue not only with the other participants in conversations but also with the speakers in discussions.
The specialist congress will be staged by Messe Essen together with nowaso GmbH. On the day before the fair, “Security in Dialogue” will start with the second symposium organised by Initiative Wirtschaft und Sicherheit (IWS – the “Initiative for the Economy and Security”). The congress entitled “Security Risks Versus Company Success in a globalised market” will be intended to discuss the effects of the security situation on the economic development of the companies. This conference will be followed by the official opening ceremony of Security 2008.
On October 7, the subject of the event will be “Innovation Technologies of the Future: Civil Security Research”. The Federal Ministry of Education and Research is the patron of the security research section and is helping to develop its contents. The last day of the congress on October 8 will focus, in particular, on the security situation of German small and medium-sized enterprises: “Loss of know how: Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises as targets”. This title illustrates that there is still a need for action in many companies.
Forums with Presentations and Live Demonstrations
The forums gave their premiere at Security 2006. This year as well, companies on the platform will inform the visitors about the newest trends and will be available for discussions thereafter. Hall 4 will principally feature presentations about video, alarm installations, IT security and subjects which can be summarised under the headword of security organisation. The second forum will invite the visitors to Hall 12. The speakers will provide information about fire protection, admission control, guarding, mechanical security technologies as well as systems for counter-terrorism and disaster control services.
Fire Protection Will Be Given More Space at Security
The new logo of Security illustrates: More than ever, fire protection is one of the decisive subjects in the security sector. Security Essen will now give this section more space. For the first time, one complete hall will be reserved for suppliers in the security segment of fire protection. “Fire Prevention” will be the title under which the fire protection sector will congregate in Hall 12.
Compact in one place – this concept convinced the exhibitors immediately. Over 100 companies and leading associations will present their products and services in the fire protection hall. The exhibitors will originate from the fields of installation-technology fire protection as well as constructional and mobile fire protection.
At Security 2008, they will offer the visitors the opportunity in short paths, to obtain extensive information about the newest developments in fire fighting. From constructional fire protection measures to active extinguishing technology, it will be shown how a fire incident can be prevented from turning into a fire disaster. Moreover, the exhibitors will organise a forum in which they will introduce their new products and processes to the visitors in brief lectures.
No matter whether security officers, decision-takers for house services or plant security and no matter whether planning offices, architects or facility managers, Security will become even more interesting for the target groups thanks to this focusing. Due to the stronger emphasis on fire protection, the fair will also gain access to new visitor groups and is expecting more guests.
Messe Essen has developed the new concept together with its partner, Bundesverband Technischer Brandschutz (bvfa – the “Federal Association for Technical Fire Protection”). As the decisive association for preventive and averting technical fire protection in Germany, bvfa represents around 125 companies at the moment.
