2011 Oslo Terrorist Attack in Focus at ASIS Europe 2013

ASIS International, the world's premier association for security professionals, has announced that Anders Groenli, Special Adviser for Strategic Security Risk Management at Norges Bank (the Central Bank of Norway) will be a keynote speaker at ASIS Europe 2013. During his keynote presentation, Mr. Groenli will discuss the Oslo 22 July 2011 terrorist attack and its impact on current security thinking.

On 22 July 2011, one man was able to attack at the core of the Norwegian society during three hours. His actions killed 77 people and severely injured an additional 42. The presentation will focus on the consequences of the attack in terms of national security policies, but also for the security industry and security managers.

Anders Groenli has recently left the consulting engineering company Arup in London, where he worked on threat assessments and security strategies for clients worldwide. During the last three years he also headed the development of threat definitions and attack scenarios for the European Union FP7 research project SPIRIT (Safety and Protection of built Infrastructure to Resist Integral Threats). Mr. Groenli formerly worked for the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as a Policy Adviser in the Norwegian Parliament and as a Project Manager for the European Commission.
Mr. Groenli has an MSc in Global Security from Cranfield University at the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom, and a BA in Organisational Psychology and Political Science from the University of Oslo. In 2009 he received the Imbert prize "for the development of ideas for the advancement of risk and security management in the UK".
