Bundesdruckerei: reading and verification device Visotec Expert 500. The German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) issued a certificate of compliance for Bundesdruckerei‘s document reading and verification device „Visotec Expert 500“ making this device the first ever to receive such a certificate.
This confirms that the reader unit complies with the guideline for reading electronic passports which was developed by BSI and is now internationally recognised.
The document reading and verification device has been developed primarily for use by border control and police officers. This device can be used to reliably detect forged or manipulated ID documents, such as ID cards, passports or visas.
It is currently able to verify about 680 of the ID documents issued world-wide which have been designed according to international standards and is also able to read almost all CAO compliant sovereign ID documents with and without a chip.
