Genetec announced the availability of the Security Center Mobile app. This new feature of Genetec's unified security platform, the Security Center, enables operators to connect back to their platform over any IP wireless network with BlackBerry and Apple devices. Security Center Mobile further boosts operational efficiency by offering operators and security guards the ability to remotely monitor and control different aspects of their video surveillance and access control systems while on the move.

"The Security Center Mobile application takes advantage of the latest BlackBerry, Apple iPhone and iPad functionalities to offer security users an intuitive yet powerful experience," says Jimmy Palatsoukas, Senior Product Manager at Genetec. "Security personnel never know when an emergency call will come in, or when a critical situation will arise. Security Center Mobile lets them handle real-time alarm notifications from their mobile devices, offering an expeditious response in any situation."

The Security Center Mobile feature is intuitively designed to support multi-touch gestures such as swipes and pinches on both Apple and BlackBerry devices, ensuring information is easily accessed by users. Receiving security alarms and push notifications, monitoring live video and controlling PTZ cameras, viewing door status information and unlocking doors are all standard features available with Genetec Security Center Mobile.

The Security Center Mobile feature also benefits from the extreme scalability inherent to Genetec's unified security platform. The Security Center Mobile Server can transcode incoming video and stream video feeds, as well as push events and alarms to hundreds of users equipped with a mobile device. Organizations can achieve new levels of scalability by simply adding additional mobile servers. Powerful search capabilities also allow operators to quickly locate and view the status of any door, and view video from thousands of available cameras. Additionally, the iPad's additional real-estate offers users the ability to view up to 6 simultaneous video feeds.

Installation and maintenance of the Security Center Mobile Server and app is also greatly simplified. On the Apple iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad, security operators only need to log in to the App StoreSM and load the Genetec Security Center Mobile app. For BlackBerry devices, options include loading and installing to a smartphone directly from a workstation over a USB connection, downloading the mobile app from your organization's website, or BlackBerry AppWorld. IT departments can also push the mobile app through their BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES), further automating and simplifying the installation and upgrade of the app.
