Genetec Strengthens Global Position in Access Control Software Market

Gemetec has continued to expand its share of the global access control software market, according to the newly released 2025 Access Control Report by research firm Omdia.

The report confirms Genetec’s retention of the #2 position worldwide* in access control software, with the company achieving the highest organic market share gain in on-premises solutions. This growth comes amid an industry landscape shaped by mergers and acquisitions, highlighting Genetec’s commitment to innovation and long-term stability over portfolio consolidation.

In the Americas—representing over 70% of the global market—Genetec ranked among the fastest-growing vendors in the Access Control as a Service (ACaaS) segment. This momentum was driven by the rapid adoption of Security Center SaaS, Genetec’s open, unified cloud-based platform. Since launching ACaaS solutions in 2017, the company has helped organizations transition to cloud-based access control at their own pace.

Genetec also maintained its #2 position in the Americas, gained ground in EMEA, and remained among the top 10 providers in Asia Pacific*, where it recorded the region’s highest rate of organic growth.

“The access control software market has been the fastest-growing global driver of access control equipment sales over the past decade,” said Bryan Montany, Principal Research Analyst for Physical Security at Omdia. “Genetec’s strong organic growth reflects the appeal of its flexible deployment options, broad interoperability with third-party hardware, and unified security systems platform.”

Genetec’s access control solutions scale from single-site installations to global deployments, offering organizations the flexibility to operate fully on-premises, in the cloud, or in hybrid environments. Built on an open architecture, the platform eliminates vendor lock-in and supports seamless integration with third-party hardware and systems—including video surveillance, intrusion detection, and communications—within a unified interface.

In addition to its access control success, Genetec retained its #1 global ranking in video surveillance software and in the broader category combining video surveillance software and Video Surveillance as a Service (VSaaS), according to Omdia’s 2025 Video Surveillance & Analytics Report.

“For more than 25 years, our development strategy has focused on anticipating customer needs and delivering practical innovations,” said Christian Morin, Vice President of Product Engineering and Chief Security Officer at Genetec. “Our consistent year-over-year growth reflects our commitment to open, unified systems, robust cybersecurity, and privacy by design.”
