Biometric passports will be issued to the citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic from January 2014, Chairman of the State Registration Service Erlan Saparbayev said at a session of SDPK parliamentary faction.

The official outlined ID cards production will be terminated but they can be used until their expiry date. Erlan Saparbayev informed at least 200,000 ID cards have been issued since the beginning of the year. All 16-year- olds got passports for free. Besides, electronic election system, which will facilitate the process of voting, is being prepared at the time. Registry offices will issue individual PIN codes that are unique to each person. Using this code a citizen can get a passport and other documents and vote. PIN code will be closed and deleted in case a person is dead.
