ONVIF announces the release of a new web-based reporting tool for reporting false claims of ONVIF conformance, part of the organization’s ongoing proactive education and enforcement campaign designed to ensure that all claims of ONVIF conformance by manufacturers of IP-based physical security products are valid.

The new conformance reporting tool allows both members and non-members to submit information directly to ONVIF regarding false conformance claims through the ONVIF website, www.onvif.org. The online reporting tool was developed in response to feedback from ONVIF members and from the industry at large.

“The creation of ONVIF’s new online conformance reporting tool will enable anyone to easily share information with ONVIF on false claims of conformance,” said Stuart Rawling, ONVIF Communication Committee Chairman. “The integrity of the ONVIF brand must be preserved in order to have value, and this new avenue for sharing information helps achieve that goal.”

The online conformance reporting tool is part of ONVIF’s broader education and enforcement campaign, designed to protect the ONVIF brand and preemptively monitor ONVIF’s copyrights, trademarks and logos on an ongoing basis. Other components of the campaign include member and industry education, as well as easy access to the most up to date list of ONVIF conformant products and member companies on ONVIF’s website.

Founded in 2008, ONVIF now consists of more than 500 member companies in six continents and approximately 5,000 Profile conformant products. With Profile S for streaming video, Profile G for recording and storage, Profile C for physical access control and the Release Candidates Profile A, for advanced access control configuration; and Profile Q, for easy installation and advanced security features, ONVIF continues to work with its members to expand the number of IP interoperability solutions ONVIF conformant products can provide.
