The German high security specialist Secusmart and the smartphone pioneer BlackBerry Ltd. have agreed on the acquisition through BlackBerry.

Secusmart remains a German limited liability company. This alliance will open the global market in secure mobile communications for Secusmart and the Germany company will profit of the worldwide BlackBerry "Security Unit" sales and support team. The closure of the transaction is expected subject to the necessary regulatory approval.

Dr. Hans-Christoph Quelle, CEO Secusmart GmbH: "With this strategic step we got access to new possibilities as a company with anti-eavesdropping security solutions offering "Security made in Germany" to goverments, mobile operator and companys worldwide. The secrets of our existing and new customers continue to be reliably secure: The heart of the Secusmart technology is and remains the Crypto-Chip integrated into a standard Micro-SD Card. End-to-end encryption is the only method to protect voice and data communication against third party espionage. As in the past no Secusmart employees will have access to encryption algorithm or the secrets of our clients."
