Morpho Detection, Safran group's security business, today announced its CTX 9800 DSi explosives detection system (EDS) has been certified by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) in a high-speed configuration that processes in excess of 40 percent more bags than its fastest previously-certified system while continuing to provide high-resolution 3D imaging with the innovative data acquisition system, Clarity.

The new high speed CTX 9800 offers operators the possibility of reduced operational costs through simplification of baggage handling infrastructure, reduced maintenance requirements and fewer manual alarm resolutions, while speeding more cleared bags to aircraft faster.

"Morpho Detection is pleased to offer a second TSA-certified configuration of the CTX 9800 DSi explosives detection system capable of effectively screening checked luggage at the 1,000 bag per hour rate," said Dennis Cooke, president and CEO, Morpho Detection, Inc. "Approval of this new, faster CTX 9800 offers airports the flexibility to meet competing demands of customer requirements, space and budget while controlling operational costs."
