Xtralis: fire protection for Her Majesty's Prison. Xtralis announced that its Icam aspirating smoke detection system is being used by Her Majesty’s Prison (HMP) Service to protect prisoners and staff at 35 prisons throughout the United Kingdom.

HMP manages more than 130 prisons in England and Wales with a population of more than 81,000 inmates.

Delivered in conjunction with the Company’s partner Eurofyre, HMP has deployed the early warning fire detection units with vandal-resistant sampling points.

Smoke and fire can be detected and investigated immediately and appropriate suppression methods deployed. “The advantages of having an ICAM sampling point in every cell is that fire detection and response can be initiated quicker, and the systems are vandal resistant,” explains David Davies, director of Eurofyre.
