Basler's New CCD Sensor IP Camera Models Enter Series Production

Photo

After thorough production testing to ensure that they meet all quality assurance measures, the green light has been given for series production of the new Basler IP Camera models. These cameras exhibit outstanding light sensitivity and are equipped with CCD sensors with resolutions from VGA to 2 megapixels and frame rates up to 100 fps. Models with day/night functionality are also available. Additional models with CMOS sensors will be introduced in the first quarter of 2010.

Four new Basler IP Camera models incorporating the newest generation of Sony CCD sensors are entering production now. The CCD sensors provide exceptional image quality under all lighting conditions and are tailored to the requirements of the security marketplace. All Basler CCD camera models support multi-streaming and multi-encoding. They provide up to four image streams using any encoder type combination, e.g., one stream with H.264 compression, another stream with MJPEG compression, and a third and fourth stream with MPEG-4 compression. It is also possible to encode up to four streams using the same encoder type, such as H.264.

Another feature available on all of the IP cameras in the new generation is optional true day/night functionality. By using an automatically retractable IR-cut filter, a high quality color image mode is provided for daylight applications and a black and white mode can be used for night and low light conditions.

"Before our IP cameras enter series production, we perform careful quality tests to make sure that the cameras are best suited for surveillance tasks," states Gerrit Schreiber, Product Manager IP Components, Basler Vision Technologies. "And now that the cameras have entered series production, we have implemented a number of additional tests to ensure consistent quality and avoid camera failures."
