Becherer Technologies: cctvfinder - Find the Right Camera in Seconds

Two student siblings developed and launched an innovative solution called the cctvfinder about a year ago, addressing a central problem that electrical planners frequently face at the beginning of every new video surveillance planning process. At the start of each video surveillance system planning, the challenge is to identify the most suitable camera models from the vast range of options available on the market. The goal is to meet individual requirements effectively while adhering to the principle of providing the “best technology at the best price.” The cctvfinder specifically supports the selection of the appropriate camera by recommending technically and economically optimal solutions for the surveillance quality levels defined in DIN EN 62676-4 – namely, recognition [125 Px/m] and identification [250 Px/m].
This tool takes into account both the required image quality in pixels per meter and specific application conditions. By doing so, it ensures that the selected cameras meet normative requirements while enabling efficient, targeted, and standards-compliant planning. Moreover, the cctvfinder provides comprehensive additional information on specialized surveillance technologies such as thermal cameras, radar, and LiDAR sensors for the monitored area, which is particularly crucial for extensive and security-critical sites. The cctvfinder is designed for both planning offices and private users who want to find a suitable camera with minimal input – particularly concerning object distance and the width of the monitored area. Although the underlying database is still under further development, the tool has already generated significant interest from engineering firms and plays a key role in supporting the efficient planning of modern, future-proof video surveillance systems.
