Hikvision: DVR HDD will be converted into Sata

Hikvision: DVR HDD will be converted into Sata. Hikvision has decided that all its DVR HDD will be converted into Sata.

This was designed as a successor to the Advanced Technology Attachment (ATA) standard.

It possesses advantages over the older IDE: Faster data transfer at 300mbps (Sata 2.0) vs. 133mbps (IDE), the ability to remove or add devices while operating, thinner cables let air cooling work more efficiently.

Reliability is another advantage: stronger correction capability, more reliable operation with tighter data integrity checks.

Based on TI’s DSP chip, the company has smoothly shifted to the Sata HDD.

Current products based on ASIC solutions would spend much longer cycle and higher cost to transit.
