Keeping an Eye on Caravaggio

From Renaissance to Pop Art, from Caravaggio to Rauschenberg, El Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza in Madrid displays some fine pieces of priceless art. Bosch is helping them switch from analogue to IP video surveillance, replacing the existing equipment with IP cameras, image recording and storage and video analytics. The ‘fisheye’ panoramic 12-megapixel cameras give a 180 or 360-degree view and de-warping delivers rectangular, high-resolution images. Video analytics continuously analyze incoming images and trigger an alarm if a predefined scenario occurs. An optional ‘museum mode’ feature defines a perimeter around an artwork to create a virtual, invisible protective barrier. Breaches of this trigger an alarm immediately in the control center and also on the mobile devices of security personnel. Exhibits displayed in low light are monitored by Bosch IP 6000 series cameras with starlight technology, providing high quality color images in almost complete darkness. An iSCSI redundant recording solution stays operational even if any of the recorders are temporarily lost.
