The Seif Palace was built by order of Sheikh Mubarak the Great and has been extended over the years. It is a focal point of Kuwait City and it is seen as an integral part of Kuwait's history and progress. It is the official palace of the State of Kuwait, with the reigning monarch's head-quarters, the Crown Prince's office, the Prime Minister's office as well as other government offices too. So, not surprisingly, security is critical, it is not open to the public and photography is prohibited.
It was in 1904 that the decision was taken to build a palace overlooking the sea (al seif). It therefore became known as Al Seif palace and is a perfect example of Islamic architecture with original Islamic mosaic tile work. The overall area of the palace is 450,000 m² including an artificial lake, a dock for the yachts and a landing field for helicopters. 52 cameras have been installed in a security installation in order to assure 360° coverage of the sensitive outdoor areas. Operators can control all units remotely from the control room from where about 300 cameras are managed. Security is now maintained, and the Palace is under complete surveillance.
The control room is equipped with technology from eyevis. 12 Eye LCD 4600W display modules are installed there and provide high quality, high contrast, high brightness and high resolution images. Each display has a screen diagonal of 46" with 16:9 aspect ratio and native WXGA resolution (1,366x768 pixels). The Eye LCD4600M/W displays have an ultra-thin and slim design that is typical of TFT-LCD displays. The specific requirements of the Seif Palace have been met by installing a combination of an eyevis netpix controller (type NPX-3812XE-V32-D12-L2 X6E) and Eyecon basic wall management software.
