From September 25 to 28, 2018, Security Essen will become the meeting place of the international security and fire prevention sectors. How do states and companies protect themselves from hacker attacks as effectively as possible? How secure is the smart city? Is face recognition replacing ticket inspection at events? The security and fire prevention sectors are excitedly looking forward to Security Essen 2018 at Messe Essen. Because, in addition to the range offered by the exhibitors in six subject worlds, the leading fair will encompass an extensive supporting program relating to global challenges and current trends. Numerous experts, lateral thinkers and developers will make Security Essen a worldwide think tank for security.
In 2018, Security Essen will take place on a modernised site which will set new standards at the end of the last construction phase in 2019. Eight spacious and single-storey halls, as well as a lot of daylight, will offer perfect conditions in the future. During the coming event, a new hall numbering system will therefore be valid for the first time. And Security Essen will be reorganised with regard to the subjects too
New Hall Concept, Modernised Site
Visitors will find Services in Hall 1, Access, Mechatronics, Mechanics and Systems in Halls 2 and 3 and the Galeria, Perimeter Protection in Hall 3, Video in Halls 5 and 7 as well as Fire, Intrusion and Systems in Halls 6 and 7. With the new Hall 8, Messe Essen will, for the first time, also provide a separate hall for the subjects of Cyber Security and Economic Security which are becoming ever more important.
Oliver P. Kuhrt, CEO of Messe Essen: "This year, we have sharpened the profile of Security Essen: The trade fair has become considerably more digital, more modern and more interactive. Due to the optimised hall layout, we are offering our exhibitors and visitors the best possible experience at the fair with short paths and direct communication."
Digitalisation: Public Security Forum in Hall 8
Security Essen will be the ideal platform in order to obtain extensive information about current developments in the sector and to establish new contacts. The comprehensive supporting programme will offer numerous possibilities: At the Public Security Forum in Hall 8, the visitors will experience digital security technologies for public spaces from the areas of sensors/IoT, cybersecurity and surveillance. The products and the solutions will be installed in four different building scenarios (town hall, school, hospital and library) and it will be possible to test them extensively. The target group will consist of, in particular, municipal decision makers and planners of public spaces. Lectures and discussions will make the Public Security Forum complete.
Cyber Security Conference in Hall 8
Cyber-attacks on German companies cause a damage sum of around Euro 13 billion per year in this country - with an upward tendency. Security Essen will meet these and other challenges with the new Cyber Security Conference in Hall 8. Messe Essen is organising the conference with BHE Federal Association for Security Technology and with the specialist support of the Federal Office for Information Security. The subjects will range from smart cities via security in the networked building right up to biometrics and finger scans. It is planned to include contributions which, in a form close to practice, will deal with situations relating to all aspects of digital security in the subject areas of ‘Chances & Risks of Cyber Security’, ‘Connected Building - Security in the Building of the Future’ as well as ‘Digital Possibilities for Identification’.
Non-Stop Programme with Experts in Hall 2
A non-stop programme with more than 90 presentations will take place at the Security Experts Forum in Hall 2. Information and solution ideas about all six subject worlds at the fair (‘Services’, ‘Access, Mechatronics, Mechanics and Systems’, ‘Video’, ‘Fire, Intrusion and Systems’, ‘Perimeter Protection’ as well as ‘Cyber Security and Economic Security’) will await the visitors. The programme will start with a keynote lecture every morning and will finish with a live demonstration in the evening. For visitors, the Security Experts Forum will be the ideal platform in order to obtain information about new trends and product developments across different subjects. These are having direct influences on security in public and private spaces. For example, according to experts, more secure windows and doors are one reason for the decline in domestic burglaries in Germany. As a result of this too, the Security Experts Forum with 3,000 visitors last time will be one of the crowd pullers at the fair.
Premiere: Career Forum
Another premiere in the supporting programme at Security Essen will be given by the Career Forum in Hall 1 on September 25. There, retrainees, students, trainees and graduates will encounter companies from the security industry. The Career Forum will encompass, amongst other highlights, a podium discussion, presentations by exhibitors and a Job Board with job advertisements. Here, job applicants will make contacts to possible employers and exhibitors will fill actual vacancies. The Training and Further Education Day which Messe Essen will stage on September 25 too in cooperation with the Federal Association of Guard and Security Companies (BDSW) will also concentrate on the up-and-coming generation in the sector.
Additional Highlights in the Supporting Programme at Security Essen 2018
The sector is excitedly awaiting the Results of the First Essen Security Conference which the "North Rhine-Westphalia Discussion Circle on Internal Security" and Messe Essen will present on the occasion of Security Essen. The subjects at the conference in June with high-ranking representatives from the police, the economy and the local authorities included video surveillance in public spaces and the protection of large-scale events.
For compact and informative visits to the fair, Security Essen will, in cooperation with the German Society for Economic Cooperation, offer guided tours of the fair for planners, constructors and operators. At 10.30 a.m. and 2.00 p.m. every day, the visitors will be guided over the fair in small groups by specialist presenters and will gain a quick overview of the highlights at the fair, new products and services as well as innovative solutions. The Thursday of the fair will be totally characterised by fire prevention and fighting. On the Fire Prevention Day, the Essen Fire Service and exhibitors will show elaborate rescue measures and innovations which prevent fires or help to fight them effectively.
Official Exhibition App: Security Essen by GIT SICHERHEIT
In cooperation with Messe Essen, GIT SECURITY realizes the official fair App. The helpful app offers all visitors a free tool that makes the visit even more efficient. Among other things, it has an overview of the supporting program, the current exhibitor list with stand number and contact details. In addition to information about contacts, names and addresses, you can even call, e-mail, post photos or take notes about exhibiting companies directly in the app. With a global search function with filter option, you will find every exhibitor very easily. The dynamic hall plan in 3D offers an ideal overview of the entire fairgrounds - by swiping and zooming into the details of the individual halls. Special theme tours lead visitors through the fair - to individual stands, where there are all the novelties to see. With the personalized "My security" area, users can plan their stay at the trade fair perfectly: in advance, favorites can be marked, to which further notes, photos or own voice recordings can be added.
The app is available free of charge for download two weeks before the event in the Google Play Store (Android) or the Apple App Store (iOS).
