The future lies in the cloud

German access specialist Sesamsec presents its high-performance products and new, pioneering services at the Intersec trade fair.

Sesamsec Januar 2023 2

In the age of digital transformation, buildings are becoming increasingly intelligent and networked. Thanks to artificial intelligence, the smart building of tomorrow will be able to think, learn and act autonomously for the benefit of users and operators. This also poses new challenges for access control – it must become more digital, more secure and more convenient. At Intersec, which opens its doors in Dubai from January 17 to 19, access specialist Sesamsec will showcase products and solutions that take this development into account. At booth SA-D18 in Hall C.2, trade visitors can find out more about Sesamsec's portfolio by talking to the experts.

New services: access control for the future
SaaS (Software as a Service) models are becoming increasingly popular among companies and organizations. Access control, too, no longer has to be carried out in-house in a time-consuming and costly manner. Instead, the experts at Sesamsec offer "Physical Access Control as a Service," or PACaaS for short. Here, all organizational aspects such as the operation of the servers, the provision of storage space, software and regular updates are handled by Sesamsec. This offers a number of advantages for customers: There are no high initial investments for access control, and no ongoing costs for hardware, software, IT infrastructure and personnel. Instead, billing is based on a flexible subscription model that is adapted to actual demand. The solution is scalable and can grow with the company; different support levels can also be booked. With each model, customers receive location-independent access to their software and data at any time via the cloud, as well as detailed product documentation. With cloud-based access control, companies benefit from reduced costs with high availability and security of the solution.

Another service offering that Sesamsec will be presenting at Intersec is geared to the needs of installers and partners. With Professional Services, they can draw on the expertise of the access specialist when implementing a cloud-based access control solution. In close coordination with installers and partners, Sesamsec manages the complete implementation of the solution: from planning to installation and commissioning to monitoring. In this way, they can easily meet their customers' requirements for a modern access control solution in terms of security, availability and updates.

Powerful readers - also for mobile applications
The wide range of readers offered by Sesamsec is designed to cover different requirements and areas of application for access control; trade visitors can see this for themselves at the trade show booth. For example, Sesamsec offers readers that can process both: classic access cards and mobile credentials on smartphones or in the form of wearables.

With all the different specifications, Sesamsec applies the same high standards to the entire device portfolio. The readers are characterized by a design diversity that allows them to be harmoniously integrated into any environment: for example, the sturdy, high-quality manufactured devices are available in different color variants as well as with or without a keypad, depending on requirements. The readers are also truly multi-talented when it comes to the technologies they support; almost all known LF and HF contactless technologies in the frequencies 125 kHz and 13.56 MHz are processed. This means that the devices offer maximum flexibility and can be used universally. When it comes to mounting, Sesamsec also relies on versatility: there are choices of different mounting options.

Charging and Storing Lithium-Ion Batteries Correctly

Lithium-ion batteries offer many advantages. They are long lasting, have a high energy density and are only slightly self-discharging. The batteries are therefore particularly practical for many devices in the industrial sector as well as in security technology. However, one thing should always be borne in mind: Lithium and many of its compounds are highly flammable and highly reactive. Certified and GS-tested type 90 safety cabinet models enable the highest safety requirements to be met when storing and charging lithium-ion batteries.
