The construction of a new Safety and Security Center for BASF at their Ludwigshafen site has begun. Around 130 people from the company’s own fire brigade, environmental monitoring, and security divisions as well as the complete integrated command and control center will be housed there. When it is complete, it will provide the most modern working spaces and relaxation rooms as well as workshops and laboratories. Completion is scheduled for the beginning of 2028; the investment volume in the new center amounts to  a low three-digit million euro sum.

The five-storey building will be approx. 200 meters long and up to 27 meters high. The vehicle garages will accommodate 19 large and special vehicles as well as four spaces for environmental monitoring vehicles. The company-wide crisis management team will continue to be run from Ludwigshafen, and support offered to local teams both in Germany and abroad.

The central operations rooms will be correspondingly equipped in the new center. Responses and operations during events and major emergencies at BASF will be controlled from here.
