Igniting the shift: Ajax Systems introduces a fully wireless EN 54 certified fire and life safety solution
Meet EN54 Line — a fully wireless fire detection and alarm system for commercial and municipal sites. The CIE brings a unique opportunity to combine EN 54 fire detection with EN 50131 (Grade 2) intruder alarm, automation, and video surveillance in one system.
Every product meets all EN 54 standards, including EN 54-13, for overall system compatibility and integrity. It’s engineered to meet the demands of commercial and municipal spaces.
Each device can be installed in five minutes. Adding a device just requires scanning a QR code; no enclosure disassembly is needed. With no cabling required, even large commercial sites can have their fire alarm system up and running within hours. All Ajax devices are addressable and do not require programming complex logic — they are ready to operate straight out of the box. Testing and maintenance can be done remotely via apps.
Intuitive fire alarm management with a big screen
At the system's core lies EN54 Fire Hub Jeweller, a wireless control and indicating equipment (CIE) designed for on-site fire alarm system control. All communicators are already built in. The CIE has radio modules, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and two SIM cards 2G/4G (LTE). It maintains continuous communication with the monitoring station and Ajax apps while managing up to 200 addressable devices and 40 fire zones.
The on-screen event log shows exactly which device and zone need attention, so nothing gets missed. Built-in LED indicators and a buzzer provide instant alerts for alarms and faults.
Wireless coverage that outperforms traditional solutions
Built-in radio communicators provide seamless connectivity between the CIE and devices. The CIE uses Ajax's proprietary Jeweller communication protocol to transmit real-time device statuses, alarms, events, and all measured readings to Ajax apps. The wireless range can reach up to 1,800 m.
To extend the system's communication range, Ajax offers the EN54 Fire ReX Jeweller range extender, which connects to the CIE via radio or Ethernet. Five range extenders per system cover up to 35 km².
Detectors featuring patented technology
EN54 Line includes addressable smoke and heat detectors, available with or without built-in 85 dB sounders. Smoke detectors feature a patented chamber with a dual-spectrum optical sensor that uses blue and infrared LEDs to detect smoke particles accurately. Powered by the HazeFlow 2 algorithm, the smoke sensor delivers exceptional detection speed and accuracy. Heat detectors use two thermistors to monitor both rapid rises and fixed temperature thresholds and work in several selectable modes that can be configured in Ajax apps: A1R, A1S, BR, BS, and CS.
Life-saving clarity with sounders and VADs
Ajax's sounders and visual alarm devices (VADs) activate within three seconds of an alarm. Devices support sound-only, visual-only, or combined alerts. Sounders emit alerts up to 100 dB with 32 tones, while VADs have perimeter-mounted LED frames for high-intensity red flashes.
Integration and automation for greater safety
Ajax's EN54 I/O Module (2X2) Jeweller includes two inputs and two outputs to connect and control third-party devices and automate actions in fire scenarios. It can activate PAVA/VACIE systems, switch on evacuation signs, control elevator access, or unlock emergency exits even if the CIE is temporarily offline. Up to 64 automation scenarios are available per CIE.
Manual alarm and scenario activation
Ajax ManualCallPoint Jeweller provides both — enabling occupants to raise a fire alarm and trigger pre-defined automation scenarios with a single press. Within seconds, the system activates sounders, VADs, and intrusion sirens, prompting evacuation while executing actions such as powering down systems, unlocking emergency exits, and illuminating escape routes.
Stable performance even in a blackout
Both the CIE and range extender have power terminals for connection to 110–240 V~, 50/60 Hz mains and a slot for EN54 Internal Battery (5 or 10 A·h, for 24 or 72 hours of operation). These lithium-ion batteries are hot-swappable, avoiding system shutdown during replacement.
Other devices have batteries lasting up to seven years, with early low-battery warnings and self-checks that report to the CIE and Ajax apps. Battery swaps for fire detectors, sounders, and VADs are tool-free and accessible under the mounting panel.
More than just a fire alarm system
EN54 Fire Hub Jeweller supports EN 50131 (Grade 2) intrusion protection, video surveillance, and automation devices, unifying fire and security systems. Each alarm can be verified via photo or video from Ajax's MotionCam detectors or cameras. Visual alarm verification is sent to Ajax apps within seconds, enabling quick assessment and response.
