Apollo Fire Detectors has appointed Karl Westhead as Technical Director EMEA, reinforcing its focus on innovation and bringing its EMEA board to full strength.

Announcing the new appointment, Steve Brown Apollo Managing Director EMEA, said: “Apollo is committed to providing the most advanced fire protection systems possible. Karl’s appointment means we now have the full team in place to implement our strategic plan and deliver the next generation of innovative fire detection products.

“Karl will also become a member of the Apollo Global Board, overseeing the company’s global product road map to assist in our international growth.”

Karl graduated from Durham and Loughborough Universities with degrees in Electronics and Automotive Engineering.  He started his professional career, firstly at Ford and later with Visteon.  Most recently, Karl was Engineering Director at Avire, also a HALMA company.

“Apollo has a long standing reputation for developing innovative products,” commented Karl. “I’m delighted to be part of this strong, forward-looking company at a time when the organisation is undergoing such exciting product development focus. “The technical transition from working with embedded electronics and leading edge product development in the automotive and lift industries to modern fire detection systems is a natural one; with common values of innovation, excellence, integrity and passion, which are critical to sustainable success.”
