Following the acquisition of BP Labels in March, the Coated & Security Products Division of Filtrona plc ("C&SP") is pleased to announce the creation of an enlarged label and narrow web flexible packaging business. Mark Palmer will assume responsibility for this new business, following the retirement of Andrew Wood as MD of BP Labels in January 2011.
The new business will operate under the Payne brand in all label markets and combine the tobacco and brand protection label operations of Payne Security with BP Labels. This transition will occur over the coming months and is anticipated to be complete by the end of March 2011. As Managing Director - Labels, Mark Palmer brings over 22 years experience across the C&SP businesses, with in-depth knowledge of both flexible packaging and authentication solutions. Commenting on his new role Palmer said 'I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to further grow and develop our combined label operations under the Payne banner. I have been closely involved with the BP Labels team since the acquisition in March and look forward to building on the work to date leading our wider focus on delivering outstanding creativity, service and performance in label and narrow web packaging products to all our customers.'
Tony Edwards, Managing Director of C&SP added: 'Mark has already played a major role in the development of Payne tear tape and Payne Security and I am delighted that he will now lead the further development of our labels business as we seek to build on the Payne brand. His knowledge and experience will be invaluable in this new role.'
The enlarged labels business will continue to focus on manufacturing high quality, creative and secure self adhesive labels for the pharmaceutical, healthcare, cosmetic and food & drink markets. 'Our labels & narrow web packaging business will develop even further under the Payne name and we believe we can deliver significant benefits from utilising our existing global commercial and operational footprint to access new markets for our products as well as from offering our existing packaging and security products to our current customers.' said Tony Edwards. The Payne Security Document & Identity Solutions team will now report directly to Tony Edwards with Stephen Pinchen, Business Development Director continuing to lead the focus on developing global authentication solutions for Brand owners through maximising the use of C&SP's division-wide technologies, systems and production capabilities.
