Hanwha Techwin Europe Recruits Retail Sector Expert

Barry Clayton has been appointed by Hanwha Techwin Europe to drive the development of its retail sector business.

Barry joins Hanwha Techwin Europe following on from a highly successful career in loss prevention. During a 15 year period at retail giant Boots UK Ltd, Barry was involved in all areas of shrinkage reduction at the company’s stores, warehouses and distribution centres. In addition to leading complex, high value investigations, he also oversaw the implementation of new video surveillance systems at over 400 Boots stores.

In his role as Business Development Manager for the retail sector, Barry will be responsible for developing relationships with key market influencers, including consultants, specifiers, installers and system integrators, in order to identify new sales opportunities for Hanwha Techwin’s comprehensive range of IP network based video surveillance solutions. Many of these, such as the WiseNet People Counting, HeatMap and Access (ANPR) cameras, are ideally suited for retail applications.

“I am excited about this new career opportunity which will allow me to put to good use my understanding of retail operational and loss prevention issues,” said Barry. “At Boots I worked towards ensuring that we achieved maximum ROI from our video surveillance systems, and so I am excited by the opportunity to promote awareness of the new innovative video surveillance solutions which Hanwha Techwin will be launching during 2016 and in particular, the WiseNet Open Platform cameras which have specialist analytics Applications on board.

These elevate video surveillance from just being a security system, to a smart solution with the applications providing valuable management and marketing information that can lead to increased sales, maximum profitability and greater customer satisfaction. The high definition evidence grade images captured by the Wisenet cameras means they can also play a key role in assisting  retailers to comply with their corporate responsibilities by helping protect  staff and customers.”

Commenting on Barry’s appointment, Bob (H.Y.) Hwang Ph.D., Managing Director, Hanwha Techwin Europe said: “Barry is a very welcome addition to our team. He will play an important role in ensuring that we capitalise on new business opportunities within the retail sector which is one of our key target markets. We have always endeavoured to produce products that offer value and real-life practical benefits and, with input from Barry, we will continue to do so for the retail sector by listening to customers and responding with the development of solutions that meet their requirements.”
