Identive Group, a provider of products, services and solutions for the security, identification and RFID industries, announced the appointment of Robert Zivney to the newly created role of Vice President, Government & Standards. In this new corporate role, Zivney brings his knowledge of the evolving trends, threats and standards in the security industry to strengthen Identive Group's position as a leading player in identity management as well as physical and cybersecurity for the government sector.

"U.S. government agencies at the federal, state and local level are adopting secure ID programs, from worker identification to facility access, to emergency management systems. Increasingly, these programs are leveraging technologies that enable the convergence of physical and logical access control and of identity management systems with mobile devices. This is creating important opportunities for Identive," said Ayman S. Ashour, Chairman and CEO of Identive Group. "Rob is the ideal person to spearhead our efforts to deepen and expand our relationships with key government agencies. His deep expertise in areas such as converged access control solutions, HSPD-12 and identity management is the result of a multi-year focus on the security IT requirements of government customers. Rob also is well regarded in the security industry as a speaker, writer and expert on technology standards."

Zivney is a security industry veteran with more than 35 years' marketing, sales and product management experience, including 15 years with Identive's Hirsch enterprise security business, where he served both as Vice President Marketing and most recently as Vice President Business Development. Prior to Hirsch, Zivney held positions with security companies Control Systems International (now Schneider Electric), MCC Powers (now Siemens Building Technologies) and Honeywell. He is active in several security industry organizations including the Security Industry Association (SIA) and the Smart Card Alliance and has testified before Congress on behalf of the physical security industry regarding federal security regulations such as HSPD-12 and FIPS 201. Currently Zivney serves on the Board of Directors of SIA and as Chair of the Security Industry Standards Council. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.

Identity management and converged solutions are two of the most dynamic growth areas in the security industry today," commented Zivney. "Identive Group is one of the most well positioned companies to serve and indeed drive these market trends, and I am excited to be a part of the vision the Company is implementing."
