L-3 Security & Detection Systems announced today that it has successfully installed one of its new PX 18.18-MV200 dual-view palletized freight screening systems at Freightnet Handling Ltd, located at London's Heathrow Airport. The system will be used at the Freightnet facility to quickly screen all types of air cargo, particularly palletized air freight.
The PX 18.18-MV200 is designed as a high-performance multi-view air freight X-ray scanner that simultaneously provides two separate extremely clear images of palletized cargo to enable the detection of any threats or illegal materials.
"The PX 18.18-MV is the ideal freight screening solution for cargo," said Thomas M. Ripp, president of L-3 Security & Detection Systems. "With high-penetration scanning, excellent image quality, straightforward operator controls and real-time image manipulation, operators have all the tools needed to quickly identify explosives, IEDs and prohibited goods - even in densely packed palletized freight shipments."
"We were really impressed with the superior penetration and image quality of L-3's PX 18.18-MV200," said Adam Bacon, managing director of Freightnet Handling. "As a major supplier of security services to cargo agents and airlines all over the U.K., we rely on this dual-view air freight X-ray machine, which has proven to be invaluable to our operation and reinforces our commitment to provide cargo handling of the highest quality."
In addition to the large 1.8 m x 1.8 m tunnel, which enables large consignments to be quickly and easily screened, the PX 18.18-MV200 features low-level, powerful heavy-duty rollers, with a best-in-class narrow pitch expressly designed to facilitate ease of movement of all shapes and sizes of air cargo. The system also provides for easy loading and unloading of pallets via a forklift.
