Optelecom-NKF: video and communication for Beijing Metro. Optelecom-NKF announced the Beijing Metro System has selected its technology for a video surveillance and communication system serving Line 1 and Line 2 of the Beijing Metro System.

Beijing’s two oldest metro lines are being renovated ahead of the 2008 Olympic Games at a cost of 3.7 billion yuan (450 million US$). The move is aimed at meeting the requirements of the huge surge in passengers anticipated at the 29th Summer Olympic Games.

The two lines have been in operation for more than 30 years but have never been renovated. The Company partnered with Keybridge Communications, a large Shenzhen, China-based system integrator to secure the contract.

Optelecom-NKF’s C-series codecs will be deployed in a sophisticated system that will deploy 1600 cameras along 46 stations within Beijing.
