Samsung Techwin Europe and Veracity have jointly launched TRINITY, an IP network video surveillance solution that does not require a network video recorder.
TRINITY takes advantage of the processing power of Samsung WiseNetIII open platform cameras which enables them to simultaneously run multiple onboard edge based Applications, including Veracity’s award winning COLDSTORE ‘direct-to-storage’ recording solution.
Users are able to take advantage of a robust and scalable system which does not require a server or network recording device and yet supports audio and metadata as well as video, whilst offering innovative features such as camera-level fail-over and resilience to network interruptions. As a result, large savings can be achieved on software licences and NVR hardware costs normally incurred when an IP network based recording system is required. With a COLDSTORE array of up to 120TB consuming just 60 watts, there is also a potential 90% power saving compared to standard server based storage solutions. For large video surveillance projects, this provides users with the opportunity to apply for EU funded environmental grants.
“In simple terms, WiseNetIII cameras are now able to write directly to disk,” said Alastair McLeod, Veracity’s Group CEO. “The TRINITY architecture empowers the Samsung WiseNetIII cameras to record directly to COLDSTORE, whilst providing users with the option to retrieve and view the recorded images via our TRINITY Player utility or, more significantly, by any third-party PSIM or VMS (Video Management System) client application that incorporates our easy to implement media SDK.”
COLDSTORE hard disk storage arrays are increasingly being specified for large scale surveillance installations or for projects with long video retention time requirements. This is because of their high storage capacity and low power consumption as well as COLDSTORE’s key feature, i.e. it has been designed from the ground up to significantly increase disk reliability. The recent release of COLDSTORE Compact means that TRINITY is also now suitable for systems with lower camera counts.
“Our technicians have worked very closely with the Veracity team to ensure users can achieve the maximum benefit from TRINITY,” said Dan England, Technology Partner Manager for Samsung Techwin Europe. “Being able to record and store metadata directly to COLDSTORE is particularly important as customers are increasingly specifying applications to run on WiseNetIII cameras that can be used to collect and analyse data via different specialist video analytics solutions.
“This offers operation managers the potential to acquire valuable management information which could assist them in improving efficiency in areas such as process control, health & safety, marketing and human resource management, as well as enhancing the ability of security personnel to react quickly and effectively to any security threat.”
