The Expanded Metal Company has made a new appointment to drive further growth in the security sector.

Paul Green – who first worked for the Hartlepool-based firm as a stock control clerk 40 years ago – has returned to take up a business development role, focusing on the company’s ExMesh range of security solutions.

The Expanded Metal Company’s ExMesh range offers innovative fencing systems and security products which are designed to protect people, property and infrastructure from a broad array of threats.

In his role, Paul will be responsible for driving sales of ExMesh’s certified high security products and expanding the firm’s presence within the security sector on a national and international basis.

ExMesh products are developed and manufactured at The Expanded Metal Company’s 25,000 sqm site in Hartlepool, which is a long established global centre for expanded metal expertise.

ExMesh is used for the protection of staff and assets in sectors including critical national infrastructure, defence, prisons, utilities, education, healthcare and government. High security products in the range – which are certified to Loss Prevention Standard (LPS) 1175 – include ExMesh Securilath, a security lath designed for installation between walls, ceilings and roofs, ExMesh SR2 and SR3 fencing systems and gates, and ExMesh Alleygator, an access security system featuring a unique gate design.

A highly experienced sales professional, Paul has a great depth of expertise in the perimeter security sector having previously held senior level positions across sales, marketing, business development and management for national and global organisations including Intruder Detection Services Ltd; Dirickx UK Ltd; Gunnebo UK Ltd; Citadel Security Products Ltd; and Inova Gates Ltd.

Paul also worked as a police officer for Durham Constabulary before entering the perimeter security industry.

Commenting on his appointment, Paul Green said: “The Expanded Metal Company is an innovator in expanded metal mesh and I am excited to return and to be part of an ambitious team. The company is renowned and recognised across the world for developing and supplying high security solutions and I am looking forward to using my industry expertise and sales experience to further drive the company’s growth in this area.”

Philip Astley, managing director at The Expanded Metal Company added: “I am thrilled that Paul has returned to his roots at The Expanded Metal Company. Paul has a wealth of experience that spans the security sector and this will prove highly valuable as we continue to develop the ExMesh™ range and support contractors and end users in protecting critical infrastructure and at-risk sites.”
