Bihl+Wiedemann: ASi-5 Safety PCB Module (GSA27-52)
Pushbutton boxes are a typical application for efficiently connecting safe and standard signals in a single location within a compact housing. While conventional solutions require many individual wires to be routed to the field—often necessitating the use of large, multi-pin connectors—AS-Interface allows for direct wiring within the pushbutton box.

This means that only one ASi cable and one Aux cable are required in the field, significantly reducing the wiring effort. With the new ASi-5 Safety PCB module BWR5215, 4 safe inputs and 12 digital inputs or outputs can be connected—all under a single ASi-5 address. With its compact housing, the module is perfectly suited for small pushbutton boxes, for example, to integrate a 2-channel Emergency Stop, a key switch, and up to six illuminated pushbuttons.
The potted housing provides protection against accidental contact and thus effective protection against short circuits, even in metal enclosures. It also offers efficient vibration protection. ASi-5 Safety Gateways enable system- and manufacturer-independent integration of safety applications with ASi-5 Safety and ASi Safety at Work.
It does not matter whether Profinet, EtherNet/IP, or another controller is used. Furthermore, with the Safety Gateways featuring an integrated safety monitor, safety technology can often be implemented without the need for an additional safety controller. Thanks to Profisafe, CIP Safety, or FSoE, it can also be connected to a wide variety of F-CPU systems.
