Modular Components For Networked Air Handling Units

At ISH 2017, the Siemens Building Technologies Division will display new Modbus-capable components especially for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). These new components make it easy to develop and equip networked air handling units, allowing OEMs to save time and reduce costs.

The Siemens Building Technologies Division launches new Modbus-capable components especially for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), amongst them the new Climatix C600 controllers.

At the heart of the new modular system are Climatix C600 controllers capable of reliably controlling even complex applications. They are equipped with faster processors and more application storage and are able to communicate through any of the standards commonly used in building technology. Using the Climatix IC cloud solution, they offer secure remote access to the connected system and ensure high system performance and efficient remote maintenance based on user-specific cockpit information.

Other components of the system include Modbus-capable damper and valve actuators as well as sensors. Thanks to the controllers' expanded connectivity, integrating the new communicating actuators and sensors into air handling units (AHUs) is extremely cost-efficient. The bus topology simplifies the AHU wiring concept, reducing material and labor costs in production up to 30 percent. The wiring effort, and hence the error rate, decrease significantly. In addition, any valve and air damper actuators connected to the Climatix controllers are automatically integrated into the controller application.
