Primion Technology: award of a large municipal time and access control contract. A project with a provisional total volume of some € 2.5 million spanning over several years to equip municipal facilities in Antwerp and Ghent with time recording and access control equipment has been awarded to the GET Group.

The Belgian cities of Antwerp and Ghent have selected products from the GET Group, headquartered in Ostmalle in Belgium and a subsidiary of primion Technology (ISIN DE0005117006), to handle their future requirements for time recording and access control.

After running various pilot projects and carrying out an exhaustive selection procedure that ran for over ten months, Digipolis, the company that manages the computer centres for the cities of Antwerp and Ghent has decided to implement hardware and software from primion GET. The aspects of the system that particularly impressed were the performance, the stability and the breadth of the offering.

The expected value of the project is some € 2.5 million, which, through follow-on and expansions orders could well rise even further. In Belgium’s biggest city Antwerp alone, some 8,000 municipal employees will be issued with a credit-card sized 1kb Mifare ID card, which will store all the required information. The staff will be able to use their cards at 300 card readers that are to be installed in the city’s municipal buildings.

As they present their cards to the readers, the system will automatically record their worked times as well as absences and presences. This will significantly simplify access control and time calculations as, until now, neither Antwerp nor Ghent has had an electronic system. In total, some 15,000 persons will work with the system.

Simplification for Staff – Cost Savings for the Authority

The system will not only cover the city’s direct employees but in the future, staff from hospitals or the fire service, for example, will also be able to benefit from the advantages offered by the system, which is based on the company‘s Xtremis/ XtremisWeb and Xcess solutions. Initially, the project will run for four years and in Antwerp alone, will cover 140 municipal locations.

It is planned to equip some 30 to 40 locations a year with the new system. “This large project will provide us with a very prestigious reference for other public authorities in Benelux and beyond,” said primion’s CEO, Heinz Roth.
