An eventful trade show and a top-class conference are coming to an end. You missed a presentation? You can still watch the recordings after WINDAYS.
Critical business assets demand multi-layered security. This principle applies equally to virtual and physical assets: Data may be mission-critical to a business, just as people and premises are. Data security tools will include the latest in cyber-security — perhaps even artificial intelligence — working alongside physical security technologies such as electronic access control.
It can be a challenge to find an ideal electronic lock for every opening, and then to manage them all within a single, integrated solution. All too often, security procurement involves difficult compromises: A system which works perfectly for one door or department leaves another where the same solution doesn’t quite meet its needs. At newly built commercial premises in Banská Bystrica, Slovakia, power-tool manufacturer Makita stocks and distributes batteries, and runs wholesale supply logistics. They searched for a single, intuitive system to control every access point — now and in the future.
Anti-intrusion systems must be able to detect security breaches instantly and reliably – while also minimizing false positives. To help companies and homeowners achieve this, Hikvision has created its AX PRO wireless alarm system, which includes highly reliable video verification solutions, secure wireless transmission, and a wide range of state-of-the-art alarm detectors.
When Brunelleschi built his famous dome on Florence cathedral, he had to design his own scaffolding. He built lifts for moving materials above ground level. He created airborne kitchens, so workers needn’t descend all the way just to eat lunch. Plug-and-play building technologies have improved since the 1400s. Yet a surprising amount of any project is still administered manually, in a way Brunelleschi might have recognized. A disruptive, digital revolution is imminent. Every building project demands coordination of vast amounts of information. Realizing a vision from brain to bricks and mortar depends on marshalling it successfully. For architects and engineers, building owners and contractors, digitization is here to help — and to stay. Building Information Modeling, or BIM, sits at the heart of a project.
In everyday work and the working environment, cuts are among the most common accidents at work. About 30 percent of all “non-fatal injuries” are external injuries such as hand-cut wounds.
As part of a technical cooperation, Eizo and Milestone have integrated a plug-in to use Duravision IP decoding solutions from Eizo in the Milestone XProtect video management software (VMS). Dr. Anja Opitz is responsible for the “International Politics and Security Policy” department at the Academy for Political Education in Tutzing, Germany. She conceives and leads symposiums, expert forums or seminars that are held for various disseminators – currently, for example, a seminar on the strategy ability of the German Bundeswehr in the context of the global security architecture. The Academy aims to bring science and practice together – so Opitz also concerns herself with research into the nexus between health and security as well as with the European security and defense policy. She is also President of the Global Health Security Alliance (GloHSA). Matthias Erler from GIT SECURITY spoke with Dr. Anja Opitz.

Despite the corona pandemic, a lot is happening at Sensor People from Owen in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. In the future, Leuze electronics will only operate under the Leuze brand name. At the same time, the company is becoming even “yellower” and is positioning itself more strongly in this market segment with its own business unit for safety. GIT SECURITY EMEA spoke with Ulrich Balbach, CEO of Leuze.
The Budenheim company takes its name from the Rhine-based region of its founding, but today operates as a truly international chemical specialist. The company headquarters remain in the region (Close to neighbouring Mainz, Germany), but are now part of a number of additional production sites based around the world. Inevitably, some of the activities carried out by Budenheim personnel, require an element of lone working – often defined as working outside of eyesight or earshot from another colleague. Typically, this will involve maintenance or check procedures around product control, testing, and safety. Even employees not working in a high-risk environment, can face heightened risk in an emergency, due to working alone.

According to Fire Safe Europe, there are 5,000 fire incidents every day across the whole of Europe. Fires are a health factor, a cost factor and have great impact on polluting our environment. That’s why GIT SECURITY is exploring the topic of fire safety in Europe and discusses here the 7 layers of fire prevention established by the Modern Building Alliance.
Size can be a major factor for any security project. The bigger the scale, the greater the challenge. With hundreds of doors and a 3km perimeter, the Flanders Expo is larger than most buildings. They sought a modern replacement for mechanical locking - and finally decided on Assa Abloy's Cliq locking system.
Busy offices need convenient interior security for any private spaces. Not everyone should be reading the important memo on the CEO’s desk. But nobody wants to be left looking after the keys. At a co-working space in Barcelona, Assa Abloy's Code Handle Door locks solve the problem.

Until now, it has been difficult for remote sites and operations to protect their people and assets – especially where no power supply or fixed networks are available. Now, there’s a simple, practical, cost-effective solution to this challenge in the form of Hikvision’s Solar-powered Security Camera Setup.
Controlling vehicle access to offices and car parks is a key issue to secure people, property, and data. It is also essential to ensure fluidity. GIT SECURITY asked Vincent Dupart, CEO of STid, to explain the importance of vehicle access control.
Each time home security system is triggered, there is a large chance for it to be just a false alarm, and if such alarm is not verified as false in short time, there is a high probability the emergency responders get to the place to see nothing happened. Not only such situations are embarrassing for everyone involved, they are also costly and overall troublesome.
Perimeter protection plays a major role in the security sector. Protecting the premises of a building or an outdoor area is very important for a very broad array of industries. For instance, solutions are needed to secure property perimeters, refineries, high-security warehouses, company premises, storage spaces, and airports.

Within a mental health facility designing or even upgrading system infrastructure is always a challenge due to the nature of the environment. Fire alarms systems are no exception. Compared to an ordinary installation, extra considerations must be taken, when designing a new system or upgrading an existing area, to ensure the most secure environment for the patients.

Cannabis is now fully legal in 15 states across the country in the U.S. and decriminalized in 11 others. But as more states sign off on legalized weed, those looking to enter the potentially lucrative retail cannabis market, whether it is medical or recreational, will need to procure licenses or permits to operate. Since cannabis is not regulated by the federal government, every state has its own regulations and application process in place. However, the one constant is that each state requires strict security measures to be initiated to provide for the safety and security of the operation, its associates, and the neighborhood within which it operates. Most states call this a “Security Plan” and require its details be submitted with the application to operate, but what exactly is a “Security Plan?”
