Bosch Security Systems: IP-based CCTV surveillance for Vattenfall Europe. Vattenfall Europe chooses Bosch for IP-based CCTV surveillance of hydroelectric power plants.

Bosch Security Systems has provided an IP-based CCTV system for surveillance of the Goldisthal plant and six other hydroelectric installations.

The video monitoring and control centre is located at Goldisthal, which receives signals from the 11 Auto Dome and five fixed cameras connected in a WAN over the seven sites.

Data from the cameras is MPEG-4 compressed by three of the company’s Video Jet 8008 eight-channel IP encoders and transmitted over a bandwidth of only 1MB to produce high-quality images.

In addition to the above-ground surveillance, CCTV cameras monitor the generating machinery, located in two large caves some hundreds of metres under the Thüringer Schieferbirge mountain near Goldisthal.
