Hikvision recently supported the FINA Women's Water Polo Olympic Games Qualification Tournament by donating an end-to-end HD surveillance system to capture the event’s thrilling action.
Hosted by GZC DONK, a merger between the Goudsche Swim Club, and Swimming & Polo Club DONK, in the city of Gouda, Netherlands, in all, a total of 42 games were held during the eight-day competition. The semi-final and final rounds were hosted March 27 and 28 respectively, with the four best teams (Gold, Silver, Bronze medalists and fourth place) securing their place in the 2016 Olympic Games.
To capture high-quality video footage for live streaming of the games, and detail for analyzing game play for training purposes, Hikvision IP solution were deployed. In all, four control points were installed, for system control and recording, with live action playback displayed in the public canteen area. Utilizing a Hikvision DS-2DF8236IV-AEL(W) 2MP Ultra WDR Smart PTZ Camera with 36X Optical Zoom and 140db True WDR to provide clear live streaming images, and DS-2CD4A26FWD-IZ(H)(S) Full HD 1080p Low Light Smart Bullet Cameras with slow shutter and 3D DNR, as well as NVR and VMS client software, the total surveillance solution enabled trainers to review the water polo action, collect game data and feedback crucial performance information to the games’ participants.
Under the watchful eye of the Hikvision IP surveillance solution, twelve of the world's best women's teams from across five continents battled it out for a spot in the upcoming Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. “The Hikvision surveillance system provided a great opportunity to relay the games to a significantly wider audience,” enthused Hein Megens, GZC DONK, Club President. “Water polo is a popular game around the world and lots of people were interested to see the tournament’s action live.”
“The Hikvision cameras provided perfect action footage even under the difficult environment challenges posed by the swimming pool,” said Arno Tromp, Product Manager at Hikvision Europe. “With such a successful outcome, the tournament has generated interest from around the world where Hikvision cameras could be specified to capture sporting action at other events.”
