i-Pro Active Guard 3.0: Intelligent Video Search with Generative AI

i-Pro Active Guard is an AI-powered software solution that transforms video systems from pure recording tools into intelligent security and analytics platforms. It analyses metadata generated directly at the edge of the network by i-Pro’s AI-enabled cameras, enabling fast search and detection of relevant events. Instead of manually reviewing video footage, security teams can filter for specific characteristics or objects, such as vehicle types, clothing colours, or other visual attributes. The result: more accurate responses, reduced monitoring workload, and more efficient operations, especially in security-critical environments such as airports, government buildings, hospitals, or transportation infrastructure.

With version 3.0, i-Pro Active Guard expands its capabilities through the use of generative AI. The latest generation introduces “Free Text Search” using natural language. Users can phrase their search queries just as they would speak. Instead of selecting predefined filters, they simply enter search terms such as “fire truck,” “person who fell down,” or “electric scooter.” The software interprets these requests, understands their semantic meaning, and delivers precise results within seconds, even if the searched-for attributes were not predefined or manually tagged.

The system is based on a combination of edge-based video analytics within i-Pro’s AI-capable cameras and a server-side generative AI module. This architecture enables high speed, data sovereignty, and security: Active Guard runs fully locally (on-premises), without an internet connection, and therefore meets the requirements of sensitive environments that exclude cloud-based solutions for data protection or cybersecurity reasons.

Video data keeps growing, and the ability to quickly identify relevant information and respond effectively is becoming increasingly important. With free-text search using natural language, Active Guard 3.0 enables security professionals to create precise search filters as intuitively as they would speak, helping them reach the right insights faster and make better operational decisions.

Another highlight of version 3.0 is the new “Person Image Similarity Search.” This feature uses person re-identification technology to find individuals with a similar appearance in video footage, regardless of clothing, perspective, or lighting. This supports investigations in complex scenarios without relying on biometric identification.

Active Guard is compatible with leading Video Management Systems (VMS) such as Genetec, Milestone, and Luxriot. This makes it easy to integrate the software into existing infrastructures without needing to replace hardware. With the AI Processing Relay function of i-Pro’s X-Series cameras, even non-AI cameras, including those from other manufacturers, can be incorporated into the system. This allows older devices to benefit from the new generative AI ecosystem.

Active Guard is specifically designed for mission-critical applications where data protection, speed, and reliability are top priorities. It transforms video data into actionable intelligence, enhances operational decision-making, and improves safety across a wide range of use cases, from educational institutions and retail to smart city projects.
