Intersec 2015 expects double-digit growth

The Middle East and Africa's fast-growing security market has been underlined by the anticipated double digit growth of the upcoming edition of Intersec in 2015. The global demand for security equipment is estimated to grow seven per cent annually, reaching US$117 billion by 2016,* with the underdeveloped Asian, Eastern European, and Middle East & African markets leading the charge.

The 17th edition of Intersec is setting the pace for market, as organiser Epoc Messe Frankfurt said today it expects the event to register 15 per cent growth in exhibition space year-on-year. Taking place from 18-20 January 2015 at the Dubai International Exhibition and Convention Centre, Intersec will feature more than 1,300 exhibitors from over 50 countries, including 300 newcomers.

With two additional exhibition halls booked for 2015, the three-day event focuses on the five core areas of Commercial Security; Information Security; Fire & Rescue; Safety & Health; and Homeland Security & Policing. Exhibition space for two of the five sections, Fire & Rescue and Homeland Security & Policing, has already sold out, further reinforcing Intersec's status as the premier business platform for the global security and safety sectors.

"Intersec has grown from a GCC-focused event into one of the world's leading networking platforms for the global security and safety industries", said Ahmed Pauwels, CEO of Epoc Messe Frankfurt. "The Middle East and Africa region continues to emerge as a key security market, and Intersec functions as the bellwether event that showcases the current trends prevailing across the globe, while presenting vital indicators of future developments in the industry. With a footprint that spans the entire region and active participation from a majority of the leading international players, Intersec is today a must-attend event for the global security, safety, and fire protection communities."

Intersec continues to enjoy widespread support and cooperation from Dubai Police and Civil Defence authorities, who have played an integral role in supporting and guiding the show's development over the years. With more than 600 exhibitors, Commercial Security will form the largest section at Intersec 2015. The world's top ten security companies have already confirmed their participation, underlining the growing importance of critical infrastructure protection in the Middle East, which is expected to be worth US$13 billion by 2018, at an annual growth rate of 18 per cent.**

The Fire & Protection section has, however, recorded the largest percentage growth year-on-year, largely due to UAE-based Founding Sponsor NAFFCO, which booked an entire hall for 2015. Meanwhile, Information Security will be a stand-alone section for the first time in 2015, reflecting the strong growth trend in the regional cyber security market, which is tipped to grow annually at 13 per cent from US$5.1 billion in 2014 to US$9.5 billion in 2019.***

New additions for Intersec 2015 include two new pavilions - the first being an Aerial Surveillance Pavilion, which focuses on aerial surveillance, unmanned aerial systems, search & rescue, and EMS (Emergency Medical Services). The second is the GPEC (General Police Equipment Exhibition & Conference) Pavilion, which complements the Homeland Security & Policing section, covering all relevant products for internal security, including information and communications, vehicles and traffic control, criminal science and forensic technology.

Other highlights that the more than 26,000 visitors can expect at Intersec 2015 include the Techtextil Pavilion which focuses on technical textiles and nonwoven protective clothing; the Dubai SME Pavilion, dedicated to UAE start-ups and SMEs involved in the security and safety industries; and a highly focused line-up of seven dedicated conferences that cover every aspect of safety, security, and fire protection. Intersec 2015 will also feature 13 country pavilions from Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Korea, Pakistan, Singapore, Taiwan, UK and USA.
