Record Attendance expected for CPD-accredited 24th International Water Mist Conference

The final programme for the 24th International Water Mist Conference (IWMC) has now been released, and the International Water Mist Association (IWMA) is pleased to announce that pre-registrations indicate the largest number of participants ever.

The event will take place in Manchester, UK, on 24th and 25th September. For the first time in IWMA’s history, it will span two full days, reflecting the continued growth and maturity of the water mist industry. Max Lakkonen, President of IWMA, expresses his enthusiasm: “I am truly pleased with the strength of this year’s programme and the interest it has generated so far. IWMC 2025 will be a great opportunity to demonstrate that water mist is gaining ground across multiple sectors and is increasingly recognised as a standardised, effective and environmentally sound fire protection technology.”

As IWMA approaches its 30th anniversary, the association is also witnessing the development of the industry on many fronts from wider acceptance in key markets to stronger engagement with decision-makers and standardisation bodies. This year, IWMA will also issue CPD certificates to all participants, ensuring the conference offers both professional development and networking value.

Max Lakkonen adds: “We warmly invite everyone with an interest in water mist technology – whether system designer, manufacturer, installer, fire safety consultant, or regulator – to join us in Manchester. This event brings together the entire global water mist community.”

Among the highlights of IWMC 2025 will be:

  • The Ragnar Wighus Award for outstanding academic work in water mist
  • A panel discussion on current industry challenges
  • A technology exhibition running alongside the main programme
  • And an opening welcome by Sir Ken Knight, a prominent figure in UK fire services and standardisation
