The Expanded Metal Company has strengthened its ExMesh security products team with the appointment of Ian Salvin as Security Fencing Estimator.

Ian, an experienced estimator and installer, has joined the Hartlepool, UK-based company to take up a new role which encompasses estimating, sales and technical support, as demand for its ExMesh products continues to grow. The Expanded Metal Company’s ExMesh range offers innovative fencing systems and security products which are designed to protect people, property and infrastructure from a broad array of threats.

Ian, from Hartlepool, has a wealth of experience, gained from sales and estimator roles within the fencing sector: this includes 13 years at Peart Fencing as Senior Estimator. He has also worked as a fencing installer, giving him additional understanding of the technical challenges encountered by contractors.

ExMesh products are developed and manufactured at company’s 25,000 sqm site, which is a long established global centre for expanded metal expertise. The Expanded Metal Company, which has operated for more than 125 years, was the first UK fencing manufacturer to be awarded ‘Secured by Design’ status.

The ExMesh range includes LPS 1175 SR2 and SR3 rated fencing systems, anti-climb measures, cages, ExMesh Fastrack, a fence system developed for the rail industry, ExMesh Electra, designed for the electric and telecoms industries, and ExMesh Securilath, a security lath designed for installation between walls, ceilings and roofs.

The Expanded Metal Company has a rich industrial heritage dating back to 1889 and was founded by John French Golding, the inventor and patentee of expanded metal.

The firm works closely with contractors and end users to create bespoke solutions for their projects, drawing on its extensive design and manufacturing expertise, and high-class production capabilities.

It stocks and supplies a wide range of high quality expanded metal mesh products and offers specialist capabilities in metal work, such as cutting, welding, drilling, punching, shearing and roll forming.

The firm was previously part of the Expamet group of companies.
