The International Security Exhibition Celebrates its 25th Edition
Organised by Ifema Madrid from February 24 to 27, the International Security Exhibition celebrated its 25th edition by once again reaffirming its immense convening power. Sicur 2026 welcomed more than 47,000 professionals from 83 countries, representing the entire value chain of the comprehensive security industry: technical specifiers, distributors, engineers, installers, and maintenance experts, as well as security professionals, members of Law Enforcement and Emergency Forces, and numerous representatives from key client sectors, among others.
Sicur 2026 showcased the most cutting-edge solutions in Occupational Safety, Fire Safety and Emergencies, and Security through the offerings of 673 participating companies across four halls. This comprehensive display of products and services was complemented by a robust technical agenda designed to address industry challenges, drawing over 2,600 attendees across Foro Sicur, Sicur Cyber, Exo Croner, the Asepal Speaker's Corner and the new "Technologies for Public Safety" conference.

Reflecting Sicur's significant Iberian reach, there was notable participation from Portugal, as well as from 37 European countries and 15 Latin American nations. For the latter, Sicur has become the definitive benchmark trade fair in Europe.
Furthermore, the economic impact of Sicur 2026 on Madrid reached €120 million, representing a 6.7% increase over the 2024 edition. This growth also supported the maintenance of 886 jobs, confirming the event's role as a pivotal professional milestone for the region.
Applied Innovation, Regulation, Technology, and Enhanced Emergency Response
The Sicur 2026 technical agenda facilitated high-level debates and conclusions regarding the modernisation of comprehensive security, with a specific focus on fire protection, European cooperation, and physical-digital convergence. Experts emphasised the role of Fire Alarm Receiving Centres in improving facility reliability, reducing false alarms and accelerating response times, while calling for clear criteria for their implementation and remote management. In parallel, the Brokerage Event for Horizon Europe Cluster 3 fostered new alliances, highlighting Spain's strong performance in securing R&D funds. Meanwhile, Sicur Cyber addressed challenges such as secure credentials and the NIS2/CER framework in the face of increasingly technological and hybrid threats, while warning of the proliferation of the Internet of Things (IoT) and the urgent need to bolster its protection.
The Women and Security Observatory called for accelerating the presence of women in the sector. At the same time, critical infrastructure experts insisted that the continuity of essential services requires genuine operational capabilities. Regarding policy and management, it was noted that emerging technologies are already expanding the prevention and response capacities of public security; however, their deployment requires robust digital infrastructure and secure supply chains. The programme was complemented by sessions on emergencies and sustainability, risks associated with solar power systems and electric transport, and European funding for cybersecurity, including a panel on biometrics for security purposes.
In Occupational Safety, the development of occupational risk prevention was highlighted, with a 58% reduction in the accident rate over three decades, alongside a call to effectively integrate fire services into Civil Protection planning. Furthermore, Exo Corner showcased the expansion of exoskeletons, supported by sectoral guides and implementation protocols, while the AsepalSpeaker's Corner covered the latest developments in Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Finally, the inaugural Technologies for Public Safety Conference took place, where it was concluded that while emerging technologies significantly enhance public security capabilities, their deployment demands resilient digital infrastructures and secure supply chains. The week concluded on Friday with Sicur Academia, an initiative designed to boost industry training and attract young talent.
As it closes its 25th edition, Sicur 2026 solidifies its leadership within the comprehensive security sector in Southern Europe.
