U.S. Customs and Border Protection has given Telephonics final approval to supply its Mobile Surveillance Capability systems. The systems will be used along the southern U.S. border.

The previously awarded contract, which includes MSC systems and Integrated Logistic Support, is a firm fixed-price contract valued at $12.8 million in the base year. It has up to four additional year options with an estimated incremental value in excess of $45 million. The MSC systems leverage Telephonics' previously deployed and proven surveillance technology which has effectively detected, identified and tracked items of interest along the U.S.-Mexico border.

"Telephonics is excited about starting this very important (Department of Homeland Security-Customs and Border Patrol) program so we can begin sealing the border while protecting the men and women in harm's way," said Donald C. Pastor, Electronic Systems Division president. "This latest tool is an enhanced version of Telephonics' successful Mobile Surveillance System which is currently deployed on the U.S.-Mexican border by CBP."

Telephonics is a high-technology engineering and manufacturing company that provides integrated information, communication and sensor system solutions to military and commercial markets worldwide.
