i-Pro: Active Guard - Intelligent Search on the Edge
Active Guard is an innovative video application that processes the data generated by cameras and transfers it to common video management systems, whereby only the metadata is transferred and not the entire video stream. The plugin builds a bridge between applications, cameras and the VMS - for an integrated, seamless AI ecosystem.
Active Guard version 2 contains improved functions for data search and visualisation. The i-Pro approach is based on an open platform and supports new integrations with other solution developers. For the first time, they enable valuable new metadata to be transferred directly to the VMS interface. Beyond security-related information, Active Guard enables a new level of data-driven intelligence and decision making for organisations looking to use cameras as powerful IoT sensors to monitor operational efficiency and compliance.
Active Guard's comprehensive dashboard interface is displayed in the VMS, enabling not only accurate forensic searches using edge-based AI analytics, but also real-time notifications to security personnel about important events. VMS integration at both Genetec and Milestone includes alarm integration capabilities that clearly display alarm events with images and attributes to enhance the user experience.
Enhanced applications include increased integration with Vaxtor, a developer of high-performance character recognition systems. As well as identifying number plates and vehicle attributes, users can now use search filters to recognise all types of text, e.g. on containers, ID cards, passports and shipping labels. Also integrated are AI analyses for fall detection developed by Morpho, which can now be passed on to the VMS via Active Guard.
While many systems rely on server-based analyses, i-PRO analytics are processed directly in the camera at the edge of the system. This makes the most efficient use of computing power and bandwidth and minimises the need for expensive server hardware.
