Camera test: Samsung SNB-5000

In cooperation with Seetec, GIT SECURITY tests current and new video cameras under standardised conditions in the test laboratory of the SeeTec Hardware Competence Center. The Hardware Competence Center was set up because the data and performance specifications of network cameras as stated by manufacturers are often measured under different conditions and are not always reliable in practice. The results provided a sound basis for planning IP video projects and help to avoid unpleasant surprises. For the testing procedure, video sequences are produced under defined lighting scenarios and are then evaluated. Here, movements in the picture as well as night and backlight situations are taken into consideration.

GIT SECURITY and Seetec did test the IP camera Samsung SNB-5000. Let us have a look at the results:

Samsung SNB-5000
Samsung's model SNB-5000 box camera is part of Samsung's 1.3-megapixel HD network camera series conform to ONVIF. The camera incorporates the newly developed WiseNet Digital Signal Processing, provides 1280x1024 resolution and includes an H.264, MPEG-4 and MJPEG triple codec with multiple simultaneous streaming. The camera supplies maximum 30 frames-per-second video at HD resolution and features an Intelligent Video Analytics (IVA) capability.

Conclusion
The day/night fixed camera with a maximum resolution of 1.3 megapixels (HD ready 720p is supported) can deliver several MJPEG, MPEG4 and H.264 streams simultaneously. It provides adequate onboard image analysis, an SD slot and the power supply is via PoE.
