Security for Ports 2021

Keeping up logistics, shipping on high seas and waterways is a business which needs to be carefully run on big trade ports, rivers or passages, especially on the word trading routs. We could get an impression of what happens, if sea traffic comes to a stand during the past month when Suez Canal was blocked. Logistics in Ports and waterways is a high-security topic, which is why GIT SECURITY collected some of the security technologies on the market that help keeping up the flow of logistics safe and secure.

Access Control Solutions for Critical Infrastructure and High Security Applications

We hardly notice them, but they are there, all day and every day; the equipment installations and their control and monitoring systems that supply us all with electricity, telecommunications, gas and water. Those are perhaps the services that first come to mind without which we would all have serious difficulties very quickly – daily life would also be radically different without quite a few others. Ensuring that these installations are not accessed by unauthorized people is the job of well thought-out security systems. GIT SECURITY takes a look at some of the solutions to mitigate the risks of theft, vandalism and acts of terrorism and to protect critical infrastructure and other high security locations.

No Touch, No Problem: How QR Codes Add Benefits to Access Control

While QR codes aren’t new, it’s fair to say that 2020 became the comeback year for this technology. Be it the replacement of paper menus with QR codes on tables, which guests could scan to get a virtual menu on their mobile device, touchless payment options, or access control solutions that allow contactless visitor management – the global pandemic put contactless technology back in the spotlight. What also came into focus was the healthcare industry, that had to suddenly adjust to the new situation – probably more than any other industry. In the attempt of keeping people healthy and safe that’s when these two sectors crossed – because access control (specifically with QR code systems) played an interesting role for healthcare establishments.

Critical business assets demand multi-layered security. Assa Abloy Provides Access Control Platform for Global Manufacturer

It can be a challenge to find an ideal electronic lock for every opening, and then to manage them all within a single, integrated solution. All too often, security procurement involves difficult compromises: A system which works perfectly for one door or department leaves another where the same solution doesn’t quite meet its needs. At newly built commercial premises in Banská Bystrica, Slovakia, power-tool manufacturer Makita stocks and distributes batteries, and runs wholesale supply logistics. They searched for a single, intuitive system to control every access point — now and in the future.

Assa Abloy: The Importance of BIM Consultants and Software

When Brunelleschi built his famous dome on Florence cathedral, he had to design his own scaffolding. He built lifts for moving materials above ground level. He created airborne kitchens, so workers needn’t descend all the way just to eat lunch. Plug-and-play building technologies have improved since the 1400s. Yet a surprising amount of any project is still administered manually, in a way Brunelleschi might have recognized. A disruptive, digital revolution is imminent. Every building project demands coordination of vast amounts of information. Realizing a vision from brain to bricks and mortar depends on marshalling it successfully. For architects and engineers, building owners and contractors, digitization is here to help — and to stay. Building Information Modeling, or BIM, sits at the heart of a project.
