Murrelektronik: MVK Fusion CIP Safety – 3-in-1 hybrid fieldbus module (GSA27-52)
MVK Fusion CIP Safety from Murrelektronik brings the proven 3 in 1 approach of the MVK Fusion fieldbus modules to EtherNet/IP applications: a single hybrid module combines standard digital sensors/actuators, safety-rated digital sensors/actuators, and IO Link. This consistently merges standard and safety data communication in one device. The result: fewer components per modular unit, a significantly simplified system architecture, faster wiring, reduced space requirements, and lower installation costs.

The solution is based on CIP Safety, a standardized safety protocol certified to IEC 61508 up to SIL3. It enables real-time transmission of safety-relevant data and supports the integration of safety functions into automation systems without the need to build separate safety networks. This minimizes interface risks—an essential contribution to machine and plant safety.
MVK Fusion CIP Safety is also designed for maximum practicality during commissioning: parameterization of safety-rated sensors and actuators is carried out directly in the controller manufacturer’s engineering tool. No separate vendor-specific tool is required; SNN and device settings can also be efficiently transferred to replacement devices. This reduces downtime and prevents errors during service and retrofit.
For flexible actuator integration, the safe output port X3 can be used as two PP outputs, one PM output, or as a PPM configuration. Thanks to channel granularity, ports can be adapted precisely to application requirements.
For installation close to the process, the module features a robust design: fully potted metal housing, IP67 protection, shock and vibration resistance, and a standard operating temperature range from -30 °C to +60 °C. Comprehensive diagnostic functions monitor each channel (overload, sensor short circuit, cable break) and enable fast fault localization—ensuring higher availability with maximum safety.
